Stand up paddleboarding on the Roaring Fork River at the pristine North Star Nature Preserve just a few miles east of Aspen. Easy and relaxing float on the meandering Roaring Fork River, acquiring basic paddleboarding technics, spotting wildlife, and enjoying nature as it’s best.
You can choose from two put-in locations:
1. South Gate (to the North Star Pedestrian Bridge): It’s a shorter and easier float, recommended for first-timers. This section of the river gives access to the flooded areas of the Nature Preserve where you can enjoy stressless paddling on the shallow lakes created this year by the unusually high water level. Don’t miss out on this rare and unique experience!
2. Wildwood put-in (to the North Star Pedestrian Bridge): It’s a longer and more challenging float, recommended for paddlers with experience looking for more adventure. The beginning of this section of the river has stronger currents, low bridges, small waves that make this section more technical and adventurous. Basic paddling skills required.
